General Medicine

INTERNAL MEDICINE

The Internal Medicine Department at Memorial Hospital specialises in endocrinology, gastroenterology, and haematology, as well as in treating pulmonary, cardiovascular and infectious diseases.

Comprehensive care is our primary goal. We treat both ambulatory and hospitalised patients, and have sub-specialties in diseases affecting particular organ systems, in chronic diseases, diabetes, and hypertension.

Our internists at Memorial Hospital can provide general health assessments, help patients manage chronic conditions, and provide referrals to specialists when necessary.

We will work with you to develop a specific treatment plan and work collaboratively with other departments to ensure you receive the best possible care in regards to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

INTERNAL MEDICINE

Endocrinology

The endocrine system includes several major glands throughout the body that produce hormones, which are the chemical messengers that travel through the bloodstream to tissues and organs. They influence growth, metabolism, the reproductive system, and heart function. If your hormone levels are too high or too low, you may have an endocrine or hormonal disorder like diabetes, goitre, or Cushing’s syndrome. At Memorial Hospital, our internists have the expertise and the equipment to diagnose and treat or manage such conditions.

Infectious Diseases

An infectious disease is caused by organisms, such as bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites. The many organisms that live in and on our bodies are normally harmless, even helpful. But under certain conditions, some may cause a disease. Our physicians at Memorial Hospital can help you prevent many such infections through vaccination or other methods. We can provide you with the care you need, from prevention to diagnosis and treatment.
